i have been surprised recently to see so much support by ex-jws for the watchtower's refusal to fight and kill.
in my opinion it is a vice masquerading as a virtue.
of course war should always be a last resort but there are occasions that it has to be done.

Let us only hope that they have the right set of beliefs. Pol Pot, Hitler and Stalin are people who swam against the tide because of their beliefs. Are they in your list of "most admired"
so i'm at work and go to my vehicle parked outside the empty property i'm working at and an elderly man comes out of next door and we recognise each other from when we were elders in the same circuit.
he is early 80's in age, a jw since the 1960's and so the next generation in age up from me.. he's an outwardly jolly sort and asks how i am etc.
(knows i'm not an elder but thinks i'm pimi) and asks if i want a cup of tea so i go in and sit in his kitchen for my lunchbreak and have a chat.. i have a little fish around and ask about how jw's in his hall are.

I don't think JP wants to put the old man in prison, or torture him. He is only saying, or at least I am saying, he is responsible for his decision, for his life, and ultimately for the misery of his own children whom he indoctrinated. Let that serve as a lesson to those who are not JW's. And yes, treat the old man with compassion.
We have to stop the "justification game" at some point. We can go back to the beginning of time and end up with "It's the fault of the creator", or bacteria (suit your belief)

Yeah. It always bothers me how pacifists take a free ride. Someone else gets killed and suffer for their benefit so they can have the freedom to brag about their pacifism.

Of course Jehovah is very loving to mankind, the evidence is everywhere in the Bible

I only try to accumulate knowledge to understand better the world in which I live. That by itself makes me happy and satisfied. Favorite subjects are: evolutionary biology and all the facets of human history.
If what you mean by "the truth" Is some sort of "true religion", the answer is a resounding NO, I never even started looking for it. As far as my early teens, I stopped believing in silent, invisible things, unless it is gases, magnetic forces and gravity.

Good physical shape? I don't play, but it's hard for to believe that the chunky guy or even O'Sullivan can keep up with any professional sports player, except for some base ball players and golfers.

He is damn good! but c'mon that's called a sport too? At least in golf you walk few kilometers in a game. Oh I forgot, they ride those carts. Snooker is more like a game at which practice is the main ingredient. I take the Michael Jordans, the Peles, The Gretzkys as far more gifted and impressive.

If the Bible is better than science, then I'd like to see JW's going to a "doctor" that claims to use only the Bible to heal. That'll be the day!
